A hand Value of Hard 11 - It is always advisable to double down
when your hand value is 11 since there is a 30.7% chance to hit another
10-value card and to improve your hand to 21, which is an unbeatable
hand less the dealer has a blackjack, and in such case it would only
result in a push and you would not lose your money.
A hand Value of Soft 11 - Not all casinos would allow you to
double on a Soft 11, but if they do then the above strategy is advised.
A hand Value of 10 - As with a hand value of 11, doubling has a
high chance for improving your hand to a 20 value hand, this is a good
hand in blackjack, but when the dealer's up card is 10, face-card or an
Ace then with a hand of 20 you have a fair chance for a push.
A hand Value of Hard 9 - As with a hand of 11 doubling has a high
chance for improving your hand to a 19 value hand, still a power full
hand, the only deter is when the dealer's up card is
8/9/10/face-card/Ace. This improves the dealer's odds to get a better
hand, but still – the correct blackjack doubling down strategy here is
to double.
A hand Value of 8 - The correct blackjack doubling down strategy
here is not to double. Many are tempted to double with a hand value of 8
hoping to improve it to an 18 value hand, which isn't always the case.
With a hand value of 11 you can double, get a 7 card and still have a
powerful hand – 18, with a hand value of 8 this is not the case.
A hand Value higher than 11 - It is not advisable to double with
a hand value higher then 11, you have a 30.7% chance to bust, with a
hand value of 12 you have a 56% chance to bust and the figure keep on
rising as the hand's total grows.
A hand Value lower than 8 - You have little chances to improve
your current hand into a powerful hand that would beat the dealer, but
if you feel that the dealer would bust then, and only then, double down.
Such strategy is advised only if you use card counting techniques or you
have sufficient experience.
The best way to improve your blackjack doubling down strategy is to
practice and test it as much as possible, in order to do so you can play
